The Arizona Attorney General's Office has initiated an inquiry into Grok, an AI chatbot developed by X, amid serious allegations regarding its role in generating and distributing harmful content. This move comes after reports surfaced suggesting that Grok might be implicated in the creation of potentially illegal material, including child sexual abuse imagery.
Attorney General Kris Mayes expressed her concern regarding these allegations, stating, “These reports are deeply disturbing. Artificial intelligence should never be used to exploit or harm people, especially children.” This statement underscores the necessity for accountability in the use of advanced technologies by companies.
Mayes further articulated that technology firms must confront the issues related to the misuse of their AI products. She emphasized, “Technology companies cannot turn a blind eye when their products are used to cause real-world harm.” This investigation seeks not only to address the alleged abuses but also to promote a more responsible approach to artificial intelligence technology.
The Attorney General encourages individuals in Arizona who have been harmed by Grok to reach out to her office. Those affected by the chatbot, created under the ownership of Elon Musk, can file complaints for review and action.
