Whistleblower Says DOGE Mishandled Social Security Data, Exposing Millions to Risk

A Social Security whistleblower says hundreds of millions of Americans are at risk after their personal data was uploaded to an insecure cloud server, which the notorious 19-year-old DOGE operative “Big Balls” had access to.  

Charles Borges, the Social Security Administration’s former chief data officer, says DOGE staff uploaded a full copy of the SSA’s Social Security database to the cloud server. The database contains records of all Social Security numbers issued by the federal government. It includes individuals’ full names, addresses and birth dates, among other details that could be used to steal their identities, making it one of the nation’s most sensitive repositories of personal information.

DOGE members copied the data to an internal server that only they had access to, with no oversight mechanisms in place. Borges says the move broke federal privacy rules and SSA security policies. He also warned that if the data got into the wrong hands, it could lead to identity theft and even affect people’s benefits. 

The complaint comes amid ongoing lawsuits aimed at preventing young software engineers—many formerly part of Musk’s DOGE team—from accessing sensitive government data.
