Elon Musk is known for using his social media platform to promote controversial and inflammatory ideas. Recently he has been sharing and supporting claims suggesting that "White people are on the verge of extinction," and that Somali immigrants have "no right to be in America."
Musk Reposts Extreme Content

Musk shared or repeated many posts from other accounts, often adding his own positive comments like "true" and "simply a fact." Many of these posts were related to an ongoing investigation by the Trump administration into alleged fraud involving public assistance programs in Minnesota. A large number of the people charged in this case are part of Minnesota’s significant Somali American community.
One of the accounts he reposted belongs to UK far-right personality Tommy Robinson, whom Musk reinstated on X after Robinson had been banned from the platform in 2018 for "hateful conduct." Robinson's post claimed, "NGO’s in Minnesota are getting paid $2,375 for every Somali immigrant they bring into the United States," which appears to reference a one-time federal resettlement fund payment meant for basic needs like food and furnishing. Robinson added, "This is treason and should be met with force."
Another post Musk shared, from an account called Wall Street Apes, stated that "overall Somalis have no right to be in America, especially North Dakota and Minnesota. They don’t integrate into our societies. They carry over their clan mentalities."
Musk, who is known to have 14 children, offered his own written opinion on the birth rates of white people. "If current trends continue, Whites will go from being a small minority of world population today to virtually extinct!"
He also repeated his long-standing claim that immigration is a scheme to help the Democratic Party gain political power. This idea is connected to his long-running support for the "great replacement" conspiracy theory, which falsely claims that immigrants are being "imported" by liberals to replace white Americans. "The far left imported voters to gain power and it worked," he wrote. He wrote this in response to a post that falsely claimed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) "wasn’t even elected by Americans."
Previously in 2023, Musk was involved in a massive scandal when he posted “you have spoken the truth,” in response to a controversial post on X that claimed the Jewish community perpetuates hatred against whites. As a result, many advertisers withdrew from partnering with X, which resulted in the company's ad revenue being reportedly cut by more than half between 2022 and 2023.
